Franciscan Inn & Suites

We booked the Franciscan last minute for 2 nights as a home base in Santa Barbara while we explored the area. The hotel is conveniently located close to the port so we were able to walk there to board our boat tour. As well it is not a far walk to State Street and Stearn's Wharf for food and drinks but still far enough to be quiet during the night. The service was great. Especially the front desk attendant CJ, we mentioned we got engaged during the trip and they brought over champagne and a card! Of course we ended up booking a 3rd night! The free Breakfast is also perfect for a filling meal before going out and about for the day. Also the cookies are great! For the price it can't be beat!

We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. Ben stood out right away — he was extremely friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. He took the time to answer all of our questions and made us feel welcome from the start. The room was spotless and comfortable, and the complimentary coffee was a great touch. The overall vibe of the hotel is stylish, relaxed, and inviting. Highly recommend!

CJ and Leslie are top notch customer service at the front desk. Clean rooms. Afternoon freshly made cookies. Comfortable and spacious rooms with a heated pool and jacuzzi. Give it a shot. Also, the are 100% dog friendly.

This local hotel very enjoyable! The staff were so pleasant and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Nice spa and pool. I wish I could've used the complementary bikes but the weather wasn't cooperating. A short walk (less than 5 min) to both the beach and harbor. Loved my stay here. Nothing fancy but very comfortable with great service and location. Hope to be back

Highly recommended! We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The owner(or manager) Ben, is incredibly kind, positive, and welcoming — you can really feel that he cares about his guests and creates a warm, friendly atmosphere. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. Breakfast is included, and throughout the day there are complimentary snacks like cookies, fruit, and more, which is such a nice touch. There is also a small shop on-site with all the essentials you might need. Overall, the conditions are very comfortable and pleasant. We truly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy, welcoming hotel with great hospitality.

We stayed for only one night but wished we had more time. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed our room. The heated pool was a nice surprise and we had it all to ourselves. Breakfast was really good. I loved the egg bites instead of the usual gross hotel scrambled eggs. Staff was friendly and helpful. We were able to check in early. The area is quiet and safe, very close to the wharf, the beach, and the restaurants. There’s also a grocery store within walking distance. We would definitely stay here again.

The motel is one of Santa Barbara’s original properties—around 70 years old—but has clearly benefited from a major recent renovation. The owners are fortunate to have front-desk professionals like Ben Dridi, whose service made us feel right at home. CJ also ensured we received our room as early as possible, even before the 4:00 p.m. check-in time. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom spotless. Overall, an excellent stay. I will definitely return when visiting Santa Barbara. Highly recommended.

I'm surprised this place doesn't have a perfect 5 star rating. Where to start? When I checked in was met with the utmost of professionalism by a well dressed gentleman who made the check in process as quick and easy as possible. Upon entering my room I noticed how fresh clean and modern everything was, beds and bedding are incredibly soft and plush, excellent water pressure in the shower, a nearly full size refrigerator and freezer with espresso machine and sink, plates bowls mugs etc; an impressive little kitchenette. Fast wifi, big screen smart TV and clean clean clean. Everything is so clean, modern and comfortable here. The grounds are impeccably kept, beautiful and with a little sitting area in a courtyard with a fountain too. Ample convenient parking, a sweet location too just a few blocks from the heart of downtown SB. Part of me almost wants to delete this glowing review and keep this hidden gem of an Inn a secret!
